Before & After School Care & Summer Camp Our child care programs are operated by Saline Community Education and are located at 5 sites within the district: Houghton (K), Harvest (1st-4th), Pleasant Ridge (1st-4th), Woodland Meadows (1st-4th) and Heritage (5th-Age 14). All programs are licensed and offer families within the district quality care throughout the year.

Pooh Corner provides Preschool (ages 3-5 years) featuring the High Scope Curriculum. The Center is located in Houghton School and includes a creative movement room, a large, well-equipped outdoor playground, In 2006-2007, Pooh Corner Preschool served:

First Steps Washtenaw supports parents and families in the preparation of their children for school by coordinating and delivering early childhood development and community services. First Steps Washtenaw is open to all families (with children ages 0-5) who live in Washtenaw County.
- Home visits and individual family support
- Parent/child playgroups
- Parent support and information groups
- Periodic screening to assess overall development including health, hearing, and vision
- Connections to quality preschool services
- Connections to community resources
- Infant/toddler massage sessions
- Integration with Early On and Good Start support family services

The focus of the Recreation and Enrichment program encompasses five areas:
- Lifelong learning enrichment opportunites through a variety of skill-based class offerings including retirement planning, foreign languages, Safety Town, science camp, summer math and reading, watercolors, decorative painting, and pottery.
- Positive recreational opportunities that allow people of all ages to be socially and physically active including youth sports leagues, adult fitness classes, Detroit Tigers ballgame trip, and youth camps.
- Cultural arts programs such as Youth Band and Orchestra, music lessons, youth theatre classes, museum trips, and summer music enrichment classes.
- Aquatics program includes the Saline Stingrays swim team.
- Special community events such as the Daddy-Daughter and Mother-Son Dances and the Winter Craft Shows.

All seven school buildings are open to the community on school days until 10:00 p.m. and weekends upon request. Cafeterias, gymnasiums, auditoriums, meeting rooms and classrooms are available. More than 2,346 requests for facility use were approved last year, representing over 10,000 daily meetings, classes or activities for a total of 46,482 hours of weekend, evening and summer use of school facilities to meet student and community needs beyond the K-12 program.
