Youth Basketball League
The purpose of the Community Education Basketball League is to provide students with an opportunity to learn and develop basketball skills; play games in an organized setting; understand good sportsmanship and teamwork; and have fun!
Who: 3rd - 8th Grade Boys and Girls; No previous basketball experience required
When: January - March
Fee: $70.00 - Checks can be made payable to Saline Area Schools.
Player Jerseys: Reversible player jerseys are available at the Saline Sports Shack, 435 East Michigan Avenue, 429-5640. Players cannot participate without a jersey. Returning players may use their jersey from last year.
Team Assignments: Players will be assigned to teams based upon their grade, height, gender, and level of experience. Although requests for specific teams cannot be granted, immediate family members in the same division will be placed together.
Coaches Needed: Volunteers are needed to coach each team. Head coached must be adults and should have a basic knowledge of basketball and a desire to help kids learn. Assistant coaches are also needed and limited to 1 per team. Your help is greatly appreciated, as the league would not be possible without the help of volunteer coaches. Coaches will be able to choose a practice day and time that best fits their schedule and every attempt will be made to give them that day and time. A mandatory meeting for all coaches and assistant coaches will be on Thursday, December 17th from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Liberty School Cafeteria. Rosters, rules, equipment, and practice times and locations willl be handed out at this meeting.
